ABOUT THE ARTIST
Jefferson Clay is a singer-songwriter and producer from San Antonio, Texas. A pandemic success story, the songster began releasing music in 2020, in collaboration with Austin-based producer Lonely Child, to fast acclaim from music blogs and Spotify’s “Fresh Finds”, “Fresh Finds Pop”, and “New Pop Picks” editorial playlists alike.
Jefferson’s self-styled brand of “Texas Indie-Pop,” developed over a decade of grinding the Austin live music circuit, truly stands on its own. Sonic influence from alternative staples of his adolescence like Kings of Leon, Portugal. The Man and Foster The People are present and laced the with melodic sensibilities of contemporary pop giants like John Mayer and Harry Styles.
Jefferson Clay’s upcoming debut LP, “Elsewhere. Somehow. Somewhere.”, produced by Grammy-winning engineer Victor Gaspar (Matt Maeson , BLK ODYSSY) will be comprised of new and previously released music, and tackles themes of escapism, self-confidence, courtship, unrequited love, and mental health. The album features session work from long time band members and collaborators Chris Doege (drums, percussion) and Charlie Strickland (bass guitar). The first few releases have garnered over 5 million streams across platforms, 100,000+ monthly listeners on Spotify, and a fast-growing fan base eagerly anticipating what’s to come.
In his short artist career, Jefferson has shared the stage with Austin staples like Nané & Alpha Rev, and the national stage with the likes of MisterWives, Dent May, and believe it or not, REO Speedwagon. Jefferson Clay has headlined CelebrateSA, San Antonio’s downtown NYE celebration for a crowd of 100K+ and made several national television appearances, including an appearance as a challenger on Fox’s “The Four: Battle for Stardom”, and ABC’s “American Idol”.
